MONROE, The. (KTVE/KARD) – The city of Monroe celebrated Earth Day at the Louisiana Purchase Gardens and Zoo. Many community vendors came out to share Earth Fitness and Yoga activities, nutritional tips, and learn about environmental resources in Monroe.

The event coordinator for Community Affairs for the City of Monroe explained why it was important to host the Earth Day event.

“It’s Earth Day it’s so great for the community it lets the kids know they can be planners less they know they can have a healthy life it lets them to know that the community is there for them benefits them in so many ways,” Ross said. .

Ann Smith, board member of Friends of Black Bayou Lake National Wildlife and Refugee, says:

“We love to celebrate Earth Day with friends away from home because we’re all conservation minded so that’s what the whole wildlife refuge system is nationwide, it’s a firefighter of Conservation effort for animals and plants that are native to different regions is what we’re all about. We have settled here with different pictures of nature to color for children. Says Smith.

Fitness coach and former Miss University of Louisiana at Monroe Asja Jordan shared how exciting it was to get the kids involved in fitness exercises at the event.

“Fitness and yoga, exercise and mental health is a very important aspect of what I do and it’s not that I’m so passionate about our second annual Earth Day event, so sing along. children, get together and get energy, move and dance. with me meant a lot to me”

We caught up with some of the kids at the event and shared what Earth Day means to them.

Jackson Heart said, “I love the earth so much.”

Sister and Brother Milani and Mickey Govan went on to say, “Tell me how much fun you guys are having celebrating Earth Day here, I’m having a lot of fun and loving Earth Day, I’ve been having a lot amused too.”

To conclude the event the members of The Black Bayou Lake National Wildlife and Refugee Friends gave a pledge to the children and it was said that the Earth Day pledge, I promise to take care of the Earth, are at home.
