HARLINGEN, Texas (Central Valley) – We are five days away from the start of 2022 and some may still be thinking about how to reach their fitness goals or finding a way to lead more active lives.
Fortunately, a valley-wide initiative can help get you started this year on the right track with free fitness classes offered throughout the week.
Tu Salud ¡Si Cuenta! started in Brownsville as an initiative to fight diabetes and obesity in the community.
Guided by UTHealth, School of Public Health, their goal is to create a ‘culture of health’ by advocating for health-oriented policy change, improvements to infrastructure such as hiking and biking trails, and easy access information about a healthy lifestyle.
You can find free community exercise classes offered by Tu Salud ¡Si Cuenta! in Brownsville, Harlingen, Combs, La Feria, Port Isabel, Los Fresnos, San Benito, Rio Hondo, Weslaco and Edinburgh.
Classes feature a variety of exercises such as yoga, zumba, bootcamp, pilates and TRX.
