Empire Fitness held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Saturday for the grand opening of the new fitness center. Many people from the community came out to support this event as there was food, activities for children and most importantly, free classes available to the public.

Empire Fitness owner Labarron Smith and his business partner Michael Dowdell want to make the space a space for the community to learn about fitness and improve their performance. The gym offers many possibilities for this, including yoga classes, dance and fitness classes and other events that will be organized from time to time.

Smith said he had a strong passion for fitness and wanted to share it with the community. Opening a fitness center was the perfect way to do that, he said.

“Fitness has changed my life and helped me change the lives of others,” Smith said.

One tells his clients, “Getting fit is the hardest and easiest thing to do. »

Making this clear to his clients is one of the reasons why fitness is such an important part of his life. All of the steps Smith has taken on his own journey to success in the fitness world are steps he provides to Empire Fitness.

Meal prepping is another step to maintaining a healthy lifestyle, which Smith offers at his gym. Besides being a business partner of Smith, Dowdell is also the master behind the meal prep. “Crunch and Brunch” is a monthly event hosted by Empire Fitness and overseen by Dowdell.

At “Crunch and Brunch”, customers can train hard and then enjoy a meal as a reward. This is just one of the many events set up at Empire Fitness.

After starting the fitness center, one of Smith’s plans is to hopefully return to his hometown in neighboring Liberty County and give back to his community. He participated in an event called Salon de la santé, in which he will offer fitness classes to anyone in the community who wishes to participate.

He said he wanted to open a fitness center with a wider variety of activities on his list of projects.

Smith says anyone looking to improve their mental health or start their fitness journey is more than welcome. Empire Fitness is located at 2810 Sharer Rd Unit 19. Be sure to follow Empire Fitness on Instagram where they post many updates along with class times and prices.
