Hughes explained that because our genetic makeup is different, the rate at which we see changes in our bodies will be different, so comparing ourselves is pointless.

She recommends people set up a workout plan between three and five times a week; results should appear in about a month or two.

“While the initial changes will be minimal, over time these results will be more noticeable,” Hughes said.

The trainer is aware that some people start strong in hopes of reaching their goals faster, but this could lead to faster burnout.

She said being realistic is more sustainable and will make it easier to continue your health journey.

  2. Make your training plan realistic but still challenging
