INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy volleyball team (2-1) swept the visiting Findlay Oilers (0-3) on Saturday to cap its first weekend of the 2022 campaign from inside the Athletics and Sports Center recreation (ARC).

Greyhound’s defense limited the Oilers’ offense to a paltry .065 passing percentage, while the offense was fueled by by Lauren Cullison 10 killed. Overall, UIndy scored a .342 clip on the offense, its highest rating since November 2019.

After an intense opener that saw eight ties and six lead changes, the Greyhounds never looked back with back-to-back dominant wins in the final sets – UIndy held Findlay to 17 and 13 points in the second and third games, respectively. Cullison played a major role in the deciding set, finishing six of his 10 kills in the third. The last frame was also the Greyhounds’ best defensive, as the Oilers hit just .027 and had 10 offensive errors.

Grace Hegwood and Hannah Sabotin combined for 16 kills on .536 hits, while five Greyhounds had a service ace against Findlay. In addition to forcing 24 offensive errors from the Oilers, UIndy finished with six blocks, three of which came from upper midfield. Elizabeth Eads.

My Kenna Barnhart continued his rise on the UIndy’s all-time digs list, adding 16 in Saturday’s win. Alex Equihua chipped eight balls to add to his nine assists.

The Greyhounds are due to host their second tournament of the season next weekend, as seven teams visit Circle City. Matches will be played at Ruth Lilly Fitness Center and Nicoson Hall all day Friday and Saturday.
