Finally find fitness
There really is something to be said for the benefits of moving your body. I’m back in the gym, I’ve been training actively and regularly for six months and it’s made all the difference in how I feel, both physically and mentally. I’ve tried several times over the years to work out, but it never stuck and was never something I found enjoyable.
take small steps
While it can be easy to mentally feel the changes exercise can bring, sometimes it can be hard to see the difference in our bodies. We see it every day after all, such subtle changes may not be so noticeable. Photos help a lot with that and it was the post-workout mirror photos that really showed me the differences I make in my own body.
Decrease vs growth
My personal goals don’t include shrinking to get smaller but rather growing – my muscles to be stronger, my mind to be more resilient and myself to be more confident in my skin.
My journey with Planet Fitness
In November, I signed up to become a member of Planet Fitness. I like their non-intimidating philosophy. It works well for me as someone who struggles with anxiety, especially in unfamiliar places. I have been going there now for about six months. For the first time in my life, I’m lifting free weights, in addition to using machines, and for the first time in my life, I’m seeing my muscles grow and I’m gaining definition. My body composition is changing.
Start fitness young
Being healthy and fit wasn’t something that stressed me out when I was a teenager. I mean sure, we had gym class in high school. We even had the presidential fitness tests back then (thanks to my fellow Gen Xers who also got their metals and ribbons!) Honestly, though, I was probably sitting out of gym class if I had the option and I did a mile on the track in less than 10 minutes.
Free summer gym memberships for high school students
If I had been into fitness when I was in high school, I would definitely have taken advantage of Planet Fitness’ offer to take advantage of a free summer membership. Teenagers aged 14 to 19 can train for free all summer long.
How to register for the Summer Pass
From May 15, 2022 until August 1, 2022, students aged 14 to 19 can register via the Planet Fitness website or at your nearest Planet Fitness club. For students under the age of 18, they will need permission from a parent or legal guardian.
Not only does the Summer Pass give you the chance to train and get active this summer, it also gives you the chance to win a scholarship. There will be one winner from each state to receive a $500 scholarship and one person will take home a $5,000 scholarship. You can pre-register now for the High School Summer Passand Planet Fitness will remind you on May 15 to register!
