SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO) – Lots of people started hitting the gym this week as they worked on their New Year’s resolutions.
The Sanford Wellness Center has three locations in Sioux Falls, all of which are dedicated to helping members achieve their personal fitness goals. A few classes you can take include balance, high intensity fort, yoga, or workouts with a personal trainer.
For Chad Erb, training has really changed his life. In just seven months, he lost about 70 pounds.
“I was 40 and weighed 275 pounds so I just had to do something and hired Macie as my personal trainer. Super hard as you can tell, I’m out of breath right now, just finished, but it was awesome, I fell to 205, I’m eating healthier, happier, things have been great ”, a said Erb.
The sanford wellness center saw an increase in membership at the start of the year.
“It’s great that we love this new energy that we get in the gym, but our goal is to keep people consistent all year round,” said Kim Donelan, Supervisor of the Sanford Wellness Center.
There are lots of tips and tricks for sticking to those New Year’s resolutions.
“Having a personal trainer has really helped me because I know I’m paying for it for one and then you know another reason is that she wants to hold me accountable, so she’s here every Tuesday and Thursday at my house. ‘waiting so I think that was a big help,’ Erb said.
“There is so much different advice that we need to provide to our members on how to stay consistent,” Donelan said. “It’s good to have an exercise plan and to know what movements to do etc. how I can get over that, I won’t be successful, so it’s a lot of talking about behavior and setting small goals and so on to be able to get there.
Words of encouragement for anyone looking to reach their fitness goals in 2022.
“Just stay positive you can do it trust me it’s a way of life,” Erb said.
