JadeFitness is celebrating a grand reopening – and you’re invited!

From April 4 to 8, group fitness classes at the Pennsylvania Avenue Fitness Club are free. At the end of the week, get together and toast the end of the week and new beginnings and new friends with a social hour starting at 5 p.m. on Friday, April 8

Jade was actually closed for part of 2020. So Jade (1310 Pennsylvania Ave. SE) is celebrating the reopening of the world as much as the fitness club, co-owner Jesse Heier said.

“We went back and forth, trying to decide what to call it,” Heier said, “is it a revival? ”

But whatever the title, Heier is sure it’s a celebration. “It’s a chance to turn the page and come together again and celebrate what is hopefully the end of the pandemic,” he said.

Open the doors of the neighborhood

In the pre-pandemic days, Heier said, Jade was open to the community. Community members would come and go from morning to night, training and making connections. “Jade Fitness has always been about Capitol Hill and it’s what people love the most,” he said. Clients train with people they see at the grocery store or while walking their dog. They also meet new people and make new neighbor friends.

The gymnasium has not yet resumed its morning classes. Heier said that with the disruption of work habits, exercise habits are also changing. Jade wants to meet those needs, and so during this week they want to hear from the neighbors about where they are and what makes the most sense to them.

Many Jade regulars haven’t seen each other for a long time. Heier encourages everyone to come for social time at Jade starting at 5 p.m. on Friday, April 8. In the past, he said, Jade has been a place full of friends. “Everyone is happy, chatty and knows each other,” he said.

The community is invited to come and say “Hi,” Heier said. “It’s just a way to reconnect and catch up,” he said, with new instructors and old friends.
