If you’re part of a Maryland varsity team, congratulations and good luck! For those of us who won’t get any closer to the action than on the sidelines, tickets are available.

UMD students, faculty, and staff can attend all athletics events for free, except soccer and men’s basketball: just present a college ID. For women’s basketball, faculty and staff can get free general admission tickets or pay for reserved seats.

For football and men’s basketball, student tickets are covered by the sports fees of their tuition bill, but they must request them online. Students must create a new account with their college ID card and a personal identification number sent to each new Terp in August, but Jordan Looby, senior deputy athletic director of marketing strategy and fan experience, said said they will soon be able to use their usual card. university degrees.

“We worked with the campus to make this easier,” he said. “It’s a big change for the students.

When the demand for student tickets exceeds the supply, a lottery based on “loyalty” has the number of entries determined by a student’s class year as well as the number of games they have already attended.

Faculty and staff receive discounted season passes for soccer (lower tier $279, upper tier $155) and men’s basketball (lower tier $586, upper tier $504). Sports also hosts faculty and staff appreciation days throughout the season, including the football opener against Buffalo at noon tomorrow in College Park: higher-tier tickets are $5 and tickets lower level are $20; they can be obtained by this link.

“We really want to engage and aspire to that interaction and camaraderie with campus,” Looby said of the college programs.
