Deepak Chahar, bowler for the Indian team, posted a video on Instagram of himself bowling in a cricket match. After nearly five months, the 29-year-old said he returned to cricket for bowling.

Chahar was injured in a T20I against West Indies earlier this year. He was also left out of the 2022 Indian Premier League season. CSK, who paid a record INR 14 crore to sign him at auction, were without him for the whole season.

Chahar shared a video of himself swinging the bowl in opposite directions on Instagram. He seemed to be in a good rhythm.

I felt just as happy when I debuted: Deepak Chahar

Played in a game after over 5 months, I felt equally happy when I debuted #return #soon #bleedblue,” Chahar captioned the video.

He spent time at NCA for the rehab program, where he injured his back, which made his situation worse. He also missed the vital series in South Africa and the trip to England after IPL 2022. He also didn’t make India’s squad for the impending West Indies tour.

He was recently spotted strolling the sideline at Chinnaswamy Stadium, which is also hosting the Ranji Trophy final between Mumbai and Madhya Pradesh.

Chahar had said in June that he would need another four to five weeks to be fit.

“It’s a step-by-step process when it comes to recovery. Once I get fit, I will have to play club games to check my fitness,” Chahar told PTI.

While on his enforced sabbatical from cricket, Chahar married his fiancée Jaya Bhardwaj in Agra. Chahar proposed to Jaya during an IPL game against Punjab Kings in Dubai last season in 2021.
