The Cavan Crystal Hotel pool operators were among the beneficiaries and received over €11,500.

Seven swimming pools in Cavan and Monaghan have received over €90,000 between them to help with running costs.

The funding was confirmed by Minister of State for Sport, Jack Chambers.

The following centers will benefit Cavan/Monaghan –

Cavan Regional Health Sports and Leisure CLG €14,340.44

Farnham Estate Spa and Golf Resort €12,107.09

Slieve Russell Hotel, Ballyconnell €11,636.91

Zest Health and Fitness Club, Cavan Crystal £11,519.37

Coral Leisure Monaghan Ltd €16,926.42

Four Seasons Hotel & Leisure Club €15,045.71

Hillgrove Spa and Fitness €10,696.56

The allowances were welcomed by local Fianna Fáil Dáil MPs Brendan Smith and Niamh Smyth.

Deputy Smith said the money will help ensure the sustainability of many pools and cover the substantial costs of running them.

“Swimming pools are a vital resource for schools, clubs and communities across the country, and it is important that this infrastructure is maintained in the future. This investment will help pool operators continue to provide safe and essential services that are essential to maintaining swimming opportunities. and maintain high levels of physical activity,” Deputy Smith said.

His colleague, Deputy Smyth, added: “Pool operators have demonstrated their resilience throughout the pandemic. It is important that this resilience continues. The funding announced today will help pool operators continue to engage communities across the country and provide them with real-world expertise. It has never been more important and is essential for our physical and mental well-being.
