The new wellness center is open to Owasso Family YMCA after months of construction.

The wellness center is the first time any part of the facility has been updated, and now the fitness room is complete with state-of-the-art equipment and three new exercise studios. Six months of preparation and the Owasso Family YMCA is ready for visitors with $2 million worth of upgrades.

When visitors enter, they notice a new children’s development center where children can play while their parents work out. There is also space for before and after school programs. The fitness center used to be a basketball hall, and now it’s an 18,000 square foot fitness center.

New exercise studios offer a variety of group fitness classes, spinning classes, yoga, and Pilates.

“We know the Owasso community is constantly changing, you’re starting to see a younger community. And so, we wanted to be able to meet the needs of this changing community by redesigning this facility,” said Kyle Wilkes , Vice President of Mission Advancement for the YMCA of Greater Tulsa.

He says upgrades were needed with the growing population, including in nearby towns.

“We want to impact people’s lives. We know that families come here together, individuals, seniors and teenagers, so they can focus on their goals, but also so they can build community. And so we want to be able to provide space for everyone from our 6 week olds to our seniors,” said Wilkes.

Until Saturday, everyone can register free of charge.
