Plans for a new purpose-built gymnasium and training area at Timperley Amateur Boxing Club have been approved.
The new space – which has been given the green light by owner Trafford Council – includes a 16ft boxing ring, a practice floor space, viewing areas for the public and parents, a weights area and fitness room, restrooms and changing rooms.
The club, which is a registered charity, is located at the Broomwood Community Wellbeing Center in Timperley.
Permission was originally granted in 2018, with adjustments requested in 2020, but has since expired.
Permission was granted again after the club submitted a new application.
The club recently launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise funds for the project.
Describing its aims at the time, the club said: “The Timperley Amateur Boxing Club uses the power of the sport of boxing, exercise and recreation to engage young people, living in an area of great deprivation, in a range of positive activities that empower them. to bring about positive change.
“We aim to support young people through our activities, so that they can improve their health, reduce social isolation and play a positive role in the wider community.”
