Tolton athletics coach Pat Kelly has been hired as Tolton’s next director of athletics and activities, the school announced in a news release Monday.

“We were fortunate to have a number of qualified candidates for the position, but what stands out about Pat is his wealth of understanding of the school’s mission and culture,” the president said. of Tolton, Dan Everett, in the release. history of creating winning teams, but he has imparted a genuine desire to use athletics and activities as a vehicle to further develop our students in mind, heart, spirit and body.

Kelly will work with former sporting director Gary Link, who has held the position since March 2019, over the next two months until he becomes full-time from June 1. a position as an assistant (dance) that Kelly will be responsible for filling during this transition period.

Kelly brings 11 years of experience as a Tolton faculty member and was a member of the school’s inaugural faculty in 2011. Beginning as an assistant track and cross country coach the school’s freshman year , Kelly was promoted to head coach in 2014. Pioneering the school’s first girls’ track state championships in 2015 and 2016, as well as the boys’ side in 2021, Kelly also served as an assistant coach for the team cross-country that won the championships in 2020 for boys and 2021 for girls.

During this time, he coordinated the school’s “home program” for three years – a program aimed at enhancing community and individual growth by partnering with organizations such as the American Red Cross, St. Raymond’s Society and the Central and Northeast Missouri Food Bank. Kelly has also sponsored several clubs at Tolton, such as Key Club, Aquarium Club, Summer Weight Program, and Blazer Athletics Running and Fitness Club.
