Pipestone in Worthington

Logan Powers of the Worthington Trojans continued his spring start to the season by earning medalist honors for the second time this year with a 38 at GreatLife Golf and Fitness Club in Worthington.

Pipestone Area, however, won the tag team encounter with 169 shots to Worthington’s 182.

Braxton Thompson (39), Max Taubert (41), Breylon Kuiper (41) and Matt DeBates (48) led the Arrows. Tyler Jaycox had a 41 and Andrew Mulder a 49 for Worthington, with teammates Spenser Braaksma and Spenser Nickel both shooting 54.

On the girls’ side, Madison Beckmann led Worthington with a 50. Ellie Weg and Mia Nixon both carded 53s. Kendall Nixon and Lilly Mahlberg both had 54 points. Pipestone Area did not field a full team.


Fairmont 11, Worthington 1

FAIRMONT – The Fairmont Cardinals snuffed out Worthington’s offense and went 12 hits to win in a five-inning game.

Worthington scored first as Coy Turner threw a run in the top of the first inning. But Fairmont equalized late in the set, then scored four more in the third and six in the fifth.

Worthington had just two hits in the game.

Triston Sauerbrei and Tucker Brandner pitched for the Trojans, with Sauerbrei twirling three innings and Brandner one.
