VISALIA, CA, USA, July 14, 2022 /EINPresswire.com/ — Wyndham Visalia is now a Certified Autism Center™ (CAC), a designation awarded by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES) to organizations who have undergone autism-specific training and certification to better understand and welcome autistic and sensory visitors. Wyndham Visalia is the most recent organization to join Visit Visalia’s movement to achieve Certified Destination Designation for Autism (CAD), which means visitors can choose from a variety of accommodation options, of leisure and entertainment trained and certified in the city of Visalia.
“Wyndham Visalia is thrilled to become a Certified Center for Autism. All of our staff were very enthusiastic about going through the autism-specific training and certification to ensure that our staff are confident and much better equipped to continue providing great service and experiences to our customers,” commented Samantha Rummage-Mathias, Executive Director. “As the largest hotel in Visalia with the largest number of trained employees, we are committed to earning this important certification and pursuing our inclusion goals.”
Wyndham Visalia, along with the Tulare County Museum, Valley Oak Golf Course, Hampton Inn Visalia, Downtown Visalias, Comfort Inn Visalia, Lamp Liter Inn, and Arts Visalia Gallery, are all working toward the goal of Visit Visalia CAD designation.
“We are very pleased to work with and support Wyndham Visalia as they join other autism-certified organizations in the region and Visit Visalia’s commitment to creating inclusive and more accessible options for all visitors,” said Myron Pincomb, Chairman of the Board of IBCCES.
For more than 20 years, IBCCES has been the leader in dementia training and certification for healthcare, education and business professionals worldwide. IBCCES has created programs specifically for hospitality and leisure organizations such as hotels, theme parks and other attractions so that staff are better informed and alternative accommodations can be offered to this party growing, but underserved, community. IBCCES is the only credentialing board offering these types of programs, which include training from subject matter experts and autistic self-advocates, as well as long-term support and lifelong learning, exams on place, etc.
IBCCES has also created AutismTravel.com, a free online resource for parents that lists locations and certified professionals. Every organization listed on the site has met the Certified Autism Center™ (CAC) requirements.
