A man was arrested Tuesday night after, according to police, he slashed a teenager in the neck and shot a gun during a brawl inside LA Fitness in North Babylon,

No one was hit in the 7:50 p.m. shooting at the Deer Park Avenue gymnasium, police said

The gun was fired during a brawl in the gymnasium between Noah Haynes and a 17-year-old man, Suffolk police said in a statement. During the scuffle, the 17-year-old was slashed in the neck with a metal object and Haynes pointed a handgun at him, police said. The 17-year-old was taken to hospital for treatment with minor injuries, police said.

Gym staff had asked the couple to leave around 7:15 p.m., but they got into a fight in the parking lot, police said. Haynes then drove off in a vehicle and the 17-year-old returned to the gym.

Haynes, 18, returned about 30 minutes later, entered the building and confronted the 17-year-old in a locker room, police said. The two left the locker room and started to fight in the gym.

The victim yelled at other people in the gym that Haynes had a gun, police said, adding that three people in the gym intervened and held Haynes until police arrived. Haynes fired during the fight.

Haynes, of Wyandanch, has been charged with Assault, Reckless Endangerment, Threat and Criminal Possession of a Weapon.

He was detained overnight at the First Police Station and was due to appear before the Central Islip First District Court on Wednesday.
